Scholars from School of Global Studies participate in 7 projects that recently got funding from Centre for Globalization and Development.
Planning Grants
The centre received 14 applications, and the Executive Committee decided to award three projects. Two projects included scholars from School of Global Studies. Each project was granted SEK 75,000:
• "Outsourcing industrial production to the informal sector: Women small scale producers and home-worker through time and space" - Gunilla Blomqvist, School of Global Studies; Anja K. Franck, Economic Geography; Ann Ighe, Economic History; Malin Nilsson, Economic History.
• “The new developers? The roles of circular migrants in policy and practice" - Lisa Åkesson, Maria Eriksson Baaz; Marita Eastmond, all at the School of Global Studies.
Small Research Grants
The Centre received 22 applications for Small Research Grants, and the executive committee decided to award six projects. Scholars from School of Global Studies are participating in five projects:
• "The effects of the present crises on the Swedish commitment to global governance and increased global inclusion - an empirical study of the implementation of Swedish policy for global development" (SEK 140,000) - Ann-Marie Ekengren, Political Science; Hans Abrahamsson, School of Global Studies.
• "The labour standards controversy: Feminist perspectives from the North, South and East" (SEK 85,000) - Edmé Dominguez, School of Global Studies; Anja K. Franck, Economic Geography.
• "Studying the agency of being governed - Workshop at School of Global Studies, May 19-20, 2010" (SEK 125,000) - Stina Hansson; Sofie Hellberg, both at the School of Global Studies.
• "Soldier salaries and predatory behaviour in DR Congo: A critical assessment" (SEK 300,000) - Maria Eriksson Baaz, School of Global Studies; Ola Olsson, Economics.
• "Security in South America: The role of international organizations" (SEK 200,000) - Michael Schulz; Rodrigo Tavares, both at the School of Global Studies.
