Unfortunately our agreement with Sida has expired and the Gender Helpdesk has ceased to exist.

Sida Gender Helpdesk

The aim of the gender helpdesk is to assist Sida in gender analysis and mainstreaming in Sida’s work to promote gender equality in development cooperation.

Sida’s POLICY division and Global Gender Studies at Göteborg University have entered an agreement on a helpdesk function for gender analysis and mainstreaming in gender equality work. Global Gender Studies thus becomes an additional resource in this work. The intention is also to reinforce and develop the cooperation between the Swedish resource base and corresponding partners in partner countries. The helpdesk may be used by desk officers and managers at Sida Stockholm and at embassies.

Services offered by the helpdesk function include:

  • Advice and reviewing: Provides advice on overall strategic processes and other initiatives such as programmes and projects. Supports, comments and provides views on Project Committee documents and other reports and evaluations
  • Training courses and seminars: Contributes human resources and arranges seminars in cooperation with Sida
  • Global watch: Monitors research in the field, attends conferences, writes briefing papers and compiles conferences reports.
  • Driving research and developing methods: Promotes knowledge and methodology development in dialogue with Sida.
  • Coordination: Helps Sida to identify experts and other human resources in Sweden and internationally
  • Within the above basic remit, consultations are free of charge. Major projects are carried out at an hourly rate in accordance with Sida's contract with Global Gender Studies.

You are welcome to use Sida's helpdesk to promote gender equality in development cooperation!
