The significance of media for feminist movements: the example of Spain
In order to understand the media´s significance for social movements it is necessary to have knowledge both about their role in society and about how they are understood and used by the movements. The project is a study of media-related discourses and practices in the feminist movement in Spain, with special reference to new communication technologies like the Internet. Through a historical comparison of media discourses on gender, feminism and social change it will also shed light on Spanish media´s role as fora for cultural negotiations.
