About

Dr Ludwig Gelot completed his PhD in International Politics at Aberystwyth University, UK. He is currently convening courses in Global Studies and the Middle East.

Dr Gelot is also a UN Fellow at the Peacekeeping Training Programme of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) where he is developing courses in Conflict Analysis for peace operations personnel.

Research interest

Research Interests include religion and secularism in international relations, conflict transformation, the Middle East, the Dialogue of Civilisations, Peace Operations, Conflict Resolution, Religion & Politics in the Middle East and Legitimacy

Current research

Dr Gelot is currently working on the legitimacy of peace operations and on the necessity of incorporating the perspective ‘from below’.

Teaching and tutoring

Over the years, Dr Gelot has taught courses on Peace & Conflict Resolution, International Organisations and Politics and Religion in the Middle East. He has also taught seminars in Political Philosophy and on the Third World in International Politics.

  • ERASMUS course in Conflict Resolution (IK1621).
  • Various lectures on Islam, democratization and the Middle East
